Staff Council Update: Spring Blood Drive, two days only

One whole blood donation can save and enhance the lives of up to three patients. Join Staff Council for the annual Spring Blood Drive in partnership with Bonfils Blood Center. The blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 23 and 24, 2013. Call or visit www.bonfils.org (use site code 0248) to make your appointment today. Walk-ins also accepted during the drive, which will be hosted in University Memorial Center rooms 382-386.

The University of Colorado Student Government is pleased to announce the preliminary results of the spring 2013 elections for your student government. Turnout for this spring's election was 25 percent, the third highest CUSG election turnout in the last 10 years.

Community Notes

Early campus closure on April 15, 2013

Due to adverse weather conditions, the CU-Boulder campus closed at 2 p.m. on April 15, 2013. The university notified the campus community via our CU-Boulder Alert message system, via an alert message on colorado.edu and multiple social media channels. Whether campus will reopen on April 16 will be determined by 5:30 a.m.

Campus construction information tables coming to Norlin and UMC

Summer 2013 is shaping up to be a very ambitious time for campus construction. Facilities Management has a number of utilities and site upgrade projects planned for the central campus area that will help maintain a safe, functional environment. In addition, we’ll continue work on the Rec Center, put finishing touches on the Kittredge Complex, upgrade the teaching labs in Ekeley, and begin exciting renovations on Baker Hall.

Food and Environmental Justice Week April 15-18

Food and Environmental Justice week will feature a series of films, speakers, a food drive and a sustainable foods fair to connect the CU community with food and environmental justice initiatives at the local, national and international levels. Come and participate in the food drive, fair and events to learn how to get more involved in environmental justice issues on and around campus.

PASCAL facility

University Libraries to begin weekend deliveries from PASCAL

The University Libraries now provides next day deliveries from our storage facility (PASCAL) on the Anschutz campus on weekends as well as week days. One delivery will be made on each weekend day, typically in the afternoon. This includes delivery of both physical materials and article/book chapter scans (PDFs).

Recreation Center membership promotion

Lock-in your membership rate through August 2014 by signing up for a Rec Center membership before May 1, 2013. Any non-student member (as of May 1, 2013) who remains a member until December 2013 will lock-in their current membership rate until August 2014! For more information call 303-492-6880.

Come learn effective ways to quit smoking and begin to evaluate your readiness for change. Cessation methodologies from the behavioral health and medical fields will be presented in this 1.5 hour workshop.

CU Cleantech to host DOE sponsored Regional Business Plan Competition April 19

Five student teams from across the Rocky Mountain region will compete for $100,000 toward their renewable energy/energy efficiency/cleantech business idea. The competition is sponsored in part by the Department of Energy and is hosted by CU Cleantech--an organization based in the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship in the Leeds School of Business. This event will present an opportunity to see these talented teams showcase their business plans...and hopefully inspire your participation next year!

Se Habla Español: A Celebration of Language & Culture

CU-Boulder Spanish Club and the Cultural Events Board present "Se Habla Español: A Celebration of Language & Culture" on Thursday, April 18 at 7 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom. The event will feature dance and musical performances by local artists, inspiring stories about life in the United States, and foods from around the world, and is free and open to the public.
