As we celebrate Black History Month, we realize our African-American heroes are also our American heroes: Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Jackie Robinson, the Tuskegee Airmen, the architects of the Underground Railroad, the Little Rock Nine, and those who lost their lives or loved ones in the ugly but important domestic battles of the Civil Rights Movement. ‘Part art and part magic’

It took at least 1,000 hours of work but the result is stunning.

During the 2011-12 academic year, engineering students in Andrews Hall started an extracurricular project to build a “grand orrery,” a mechanical planetary system that illustrates the relative positions and motions of both the inner and outer planets.

Former CableLabs executive David Reed has joined the Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Program at the University of Colorado Boulder as a scholar in residence, the university announced today.

2012-2013 Performance Management cycles nearing deadlines

Friday, Mar. 1, 2013, is the deadline for submitting performance evaluation and rating forms for all officers and exempt professionals to the Department of Human Resources. For classified staff positions, May 1, 2013 is the deadline for submitting evaluation materials. Supervisors of classified staff (including retirees in regular non-temporary positions) should schedule evaluation meetings with their employees during the month of April 2013.

Don’t get sQRewed by phishing attempts

Phishing attempts can come in all shapes and sizes. QR codes are convenient ways for you to quickly get to the information you want, but they can just as quickly install malicious software or drive you to phishing sites. But there are ways to tell the malicious apart from the legitimate.
