Are you the mother of a baby between 3 and 6 months?
Are you a new mom?
Have you felt down or depressed at any point in your life?
If your baby is between 3 and 6 months of age, you may be eligible to participate in a study examining the effects of a brief mindfulness practice on a mother's mood, stress, and how things are going with her baby. The study consists of filling out questionnaires and watching and responding to a short movie. Participants also may be asked to do a brief daily mindfulness practice. In addition, childcare will be provided while you are at our research offices.
Ghost Dances reading and book signing Feb. 21
The Center of the American West is proud to present Josh Garrett-Davis, author of Ghost Dances: Proving Up on the Great Plains, for a reading and book signing.
A native of South Dakota, the gifted young writer Josh Garrett-Davis takes a singular journey back to his origins on the Midwestern Plains and gives us a striking portrait of a distinctive American place. Politics and prairie, art and religion, all combine into a new picture of the region—one that departs from the long-standing images of the area as either a wasteland or a heroic frontier.
Prescription drugs: are they safe? Get the facts!
What are common drug interactions? What about using someone else's prescription? What are the differences between barbiturates and stimulants? What are signs of dependency? What is use and what is abuse? Get answers to these and and other common questions.Community Health and the Hunter-Hauck Foundation are sponsoring a free training from Peer Assistance Services on Feb. 18 from 5-7 p.m. in UMC 415.
