CU Police hold annual active shooter response training, ask public to be informed

When two Columbine High School students shot and killed 12 classmates and a teacher, it forever changed the way that law enforcement agencies respond to active shooter incidents.

Gone are the days of waiting for the SWAT team to arrive. The first police officers on scene are now expected to immediately assess the threat and minimize additional injuries and loss of life.

Find your niche at the Student Involvement Fair on Jan. 29

Find ways to get involved and discover new interests during the spring Student Involvement Fair on Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom.

The fair is a great way to find out about the huge variety of ways to get involved at CU-Boulder. Representatives from more than 75 active student groups will be at the fair. There will also be free food and snacks for all students in attendance, as well as the opportunity to win some great prizes.

CU-Boulder research: ice cores and rising tides

Video: A new study by an international team of scientists analyzing ice cores from the Greenland ice sheet going back in time more than 100,000 years indicates the last interglacial period may be a good analog for where the planet is headed in terms of increasing greenhouse gases and rising temperatures.

CU-Boulder's sun-gazing satellite, designed to last 5 years, turns 10

When a sun-gazing NASA satellite designed and built by the University of Colorado Boulder launched into space on Jan. 25, 2003, solar storms were raging.

'Hoop Dreams' director Steve James to speak at CU

The University of Colorado’s Conference on World Affairs Athenaeum will host director and producer Steve James for a free film screening and public talk Jan. 29 and 31. There also will be a free student-only dinner with James on Jan. 30. Students who want to attend the dinner must RSVP to ath@colorado.edu.

CU-Boulder researchers seek heterosexual romantic couples 18-55 years old with no neurological impairment, no current or past major psychiatric disorder, and no metal implants/pacemakers for laboratory and brain imaging (fMRI) studies to assess the effects of social support on pain processing. We use heat, similar to holding a cup of hot coffee. $12-24/hour per partner!
