CU News Corps: Students gain experience, media outlets use their work

Katharina Buchholz awoke to the sound of her phone ringing at 7:30 on a morning last July. When she answered, a fellow student asked her to come to the Armory, where CU’s Journalism & Mass Communication program is headquartered. There had been a mass shooting at a movie theater in Aurora.

Boulder Police Department adds officers to University Hill

The following is a news release from the Boulder Police Department:

Residents will see more police officers on patrol in central Boulder as part of a new Neighborhood Impact Team approach the police department is implementing to prioritize problem-solving and police response in those areas.

New solar panels on campus double CU-Boulder’s solar power production

A new array of solar panels installed at CU-Boulder has doubled solar power production on campus to about 1,000 kilowatt-hours of energy, enough to power about 200 average-sized houses. The installation will help CU-Boulder power the campus, reduce energy costs and work toward carbon neutrality, as well as meet Colorado Amendment 37 requirements. Colorado Amendment 37 was passed by voters in 2004 to mandate 20 percent use of renewable energy statewide by 2020.

CU-Boulder's International Coffee Hour

Free food, prizes and great conversations with CU-Boulder students from all over the world are some of the reasons International Coffee Hour is a popular ongoing event at the University of Colorado Boulder.

New RTD bus pass pick-up required Jan. 7-25

Students planning to use RTD services are strongly advised to pick up their new RTD CollegePass cards prior to Jan. 25 to ensure there is no disruption of service or transit access.

#21 CU Women's Basketball Team takes on Arizona State and Arizona

Come support your 21st ranked CU Women's Basketball team as they take on Arizona State on Friday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. and Arizona on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m.

Spring career and internship fair Jan. 22-23

The Spring Career and Internship Fair is next Tuesday, Jan. 22 and Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the UMC Ballroom. The fair is FREE for CU students and alumni and offers an opportunity to connect with a variety of local, regional and national employers. With different employers each day, Career Services will host 150 employers that are looking to connect with CU-Boulder students. Please bring your campus ID and check in at the Student Registration Table.

'Places' site highlights campus spaces

Browse through high-resolution photos of many of the classrooms and other study spaces on campus. Get info on services and features in each place, such as power outlets, projectors, and seating. Places has been recently updated with Google Maps and photos of each building, proctor contact information, and new information about each place. We've made it available from off-campus, added non-classroom study and meeting spaces, and we've made the whole thing easier to use.
