Veteran goes from combat to campus

Matthew Reed didn’t feel ready for college right out of high school. But after five years of military service, he felt more prepared to pursue a college degree.

“Being in the military made me disciplined,” said Reed. “I’m much better prepared and in a much better situation to be in college now.”

Reed, from Broken Arrow, Okla., is a sophomore majoring in geology and anthropology. Because he is an Iraq veteran, his tuition is covered by the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill.

Eight things you need to know about Amendment 64

On election day this past Tuesday, Colorado voters passed a constitutional amendment – Amendment 64 – that allows people 21 or over to cultivate, consume and possess limited amounts of marijuana. There have been a number of questions about the impact of the amendment on the University community, and this Q&A addresses a few of these questions.

A building dedicated to cutting-edge technology has been recognized for its cutting-edge sustainability features. CU-Boulder’s new addition to the JILA building has received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold rating from the United States Green Building Council.

Apply for an innovative internship: connect children with nature

Learn about environmental education, nature-deficit disorder and how to make an impact in the local community! Teach for Sustainability is an internship run through the CU Environmental Center. Its mission is to promote environmental awareness and scientific achievement by focusing on children's personal connection to the Earth. There is an in class and teaching component, with the option to earn internship credit. The internship provides students the skills and tools to positively impact future generations.

The North Face Vice President of Marketing, Aaron Carpenter, to speak at CU

The North Face Vice President of Marketing, Aaron Carpenter, is coming to the University of Colorado Boulder campus on Monday, Nov. 12, to give a presentation about the company’s unique approach to brand building and marketing. The event, entitled “The North Face Brand Building Journey,” is free and open to the public and takes place at 6:30 pm at the Stadium Club at Folsom Field.
