As Halloween weekend approaches, we’d like to encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly and have some fun. But as you do so, please take steps to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others.

Adventure film maker and CU Alum Michael Brown to speak at free student luncheon Nov. 2

Michael Brown, one of the world’s most accomplished adventure filmmakers and a CU-Boulder alumnus, will share his story during his talk “Beyond the Summit” at the Back to Boulder Luncheon. The luncheon, to be held Friday, Nov. 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom, is free for all CU-Boulder students.

CU-Boulder researchers uncover new target for cancer research

In a new paper released today in Nature, BioFrontiers Institute scientists at the University of Colorado Boulder, Tom Cech and Leslie Leinwand, detailed a new target for anti-cancer drug development that is sitting at the ends of our DNA.

5th Annual Student Leadership Conference call for presenters

CU GOLD's 5th Annual Student Leadership Conference is now accepting applications for speakers and presenters. Our theme this year is "The Leading Edge" and we are looking for interactive presentations and workshops that fall into five categories: Technology, Environment, Social Justice, Entrepreneurship,or Communication. If you, a peer, a mentor, a professor, or a student organization is interested, please visit our website and fill out an application. Applications are due Nov. 9 by 5 p.m.

Open Enrollment: CU Science & Technology Policy Graduate Certificate Program

The Science and Technology Policy Certificate Program at CU-Boulder is a rigorous educational program to prepare students pursuing graduate degrees for careers in science, technology and decision-making. Upon completion students will have an understanding of the societal context of science and technology and an introduction to policy analysis methodologies used in decision settings.Open enrollment is now available: http://sciencepolicy.colorado.edu/stcert.

Israel Week on Norlin Quad, Oct. 29-Nov. 1

There will be an Israel flag display on Norlin Quad from Oct. 29-Nov. 1, along with an information tent. Students for Israel, Christians United for Israel, and JSA will be at the tent to give out free goodies and educate students on cultural aspects of Israel and the country's contribution to the world.

Kappa Sigma fraternity to host haunted house Oct. 28 to benefit local school

The Kappa Sigma fraternity will host a haunted house, "Nightmare on Penn Street," on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 7-9 p.m. in the fraternity house located at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. in Boulder. Tickets are $5 at the door and the proceeds will benefit University Hill Elementary School.
