CU-Boulder degree rated highly nationally for return on investment

When it comes to landing “good paying” jobs and receiving a high return on investment, University of Colorado Boulder graduates are in good shape nationally, according to two recent reports.

Staff Council update: Documenting the contributions of CU staff

The Awards and Staff Recognition (ASR) Committee of Boulder Campus Staff Council is taking on the challenge of documenting staff accomplishments both past and present. To promote these achievements, we are partnering with the Department of Human Resources to develop additional recognition programs, and trying to answer the more than 130 year-old question, “Who was the first staff person hired at CU that did not also teach?”

CU Business Review: ‘Can do’ approach to beverage packaging means jobs for Colorado economy

Consumer demand is making aluminum cans more relevant than ever, according to a report from the University of Colorado Boulder’s Leeds School of Business.

More than 92 billion aluminum beverage cans were sold in the U.S. in 2011 reflecting a decline in annual sales -- particularly among standard 12-ounce cans -- since the industry’s peak five years prior.

State of the Campus Address, Oct. 16 at 8 a.m.

Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano will offer his fourth State of the Campus address to faculty, staff, students and the CU community on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 8 a.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom on the CU-Boulder campus.

The chancellor, who is beginning his 39th academic year on the campus as a faculty member, dean and senior administrator, says the speech will focus on “defining our top priorities for improving the student experience, CU-Boulder’s reputation and our financial stability.”

Oct. 17 Concealed Carry Town Hall

To answer your questions, listen to your thoughts on this issue, and to provide you with more clarification on our responsibilities pertaining to the application of the CCA on our campus, we are hosting a campus town hall. Members of the CU-Boulder administration, including Chancellor DiStefano, Provost Moore, Managing Senior Associate Counsel John Sleeman, and Commander Robert Axmacher from the CU Police Department will be present.

5th Annual Student Leadership Conference call for presenters

CU GOLD's 5th Annual Student Leadership Conference is now accepting applications for speakers and presenters. Our theme this year is "The Leading Edge" and we are looking for interactive presentations and workshops that fall into five categories: Technology, Environment, Social Justice, Entrepreneurship,or Communication. If you, a peer, a mentor, a professor, or a student organization is interested, please visit our website and fill out an application. Applications are due Nov. 9 by 5 p.m.

The Six Strategic Steps - Investing wisely for a lifetime

Learn how to maximize your retirement investments without any sales pressure. The CO Securities Commission has partnered with the Evelyn Brust Financial Research and Education Foundation to bring non-commercial financial education to CU. The presentation covers the asset allocation, downside risk, after-tax returns and investment monitoring. Participants receive information on types of advisers, investment overviews, and financial temperament self-assessment.

RealColors Workshop

For centuries, people have searched for ways to peek into the human mind. The Greek philosopher, scientist and physician, Hippocrates wrote that all human beings could be divided into four distinct personality types. Real Colors is an instrument based on the more modern Temperament theories developed by David Keirsey.
