State of the Campus Address to focus on updating Flagship 2030 amid new realities

Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano will offer his fourth State of the Campus address to faculty, staff, students and the CU community on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 8 a.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom on the CU-Boulder campus.

The chancellor, who is beginning his 39th academic year on the campus as a faculty member, dean and senior administrator, says the speech will focus on “defining our top priorities for improving the student experience, CU-Boulder’s reputation and our financial stability.”

Buffs Madness kicks off student loyalty program

The CU basketball seasons will officially kick off Friday night at Buffs Madness after the conclusion of the CU volleyball match against Arizona State.  The volleyball match starts at 7 p.m. and Buffs Madness will go right after.

Senior spends three months working on Panama Canal expansion

Senior Christina Jones decided to major in civil engineering because she likes construction projects. Little did she know when she made that decision that she would be selected as an intern to work on one of the largest and most significant projects underway in the whole world—the expansion of the nearly 100-year-old Panama Canal.

Community Notes

Rec Center entrance relocated

Starting Oct. 11, the entrance to the Recreation Center will relocate to the East Gym of the Recreation Center (Facing Folsom Field). The Rec Center will stay open during construction and we appreciate everyone's patience as we adjust our configuration in order to maintain programming during these renovations. Our renovations will give the CU community an amazing, cutting-edge recreation facility for years to come.

Slacking for trees on Norlin Quad, Friday, Oct. 12

The Slackline Club at CU is hosting the second annual Slacking for Trees event on Friday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on the west end of Norlin Quad. This is the time of year when slackliners come together to celebrate the trees that let us slack and the forests that let us breathe. Anyone is welcome to come by the west end of Norlin Quad between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to try out the sport, hear about our tree projection campaign, learn to be a rainforest-safe shopper, and help us raise charity money for a reforestation project in Brazil ($1/tree)!
