CU-Boulder-led team to study effects of natural gas development

The National Science Foundation has awarded a $12 million grant to a CU-Boulder-led team to explore ways to maximize the benefits of natural gas development while minimizing negative impacts on ecosystems and communities.

Groundbreaking ceremony to kick off CU-Boulder Rec Center renovation

A groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. will kick off a $63 million project to renovate and expand the Student Recreation Center at the University of Colorado Boulder.

The ceremony, located on the pool patio, will include light refreshments and remarks by Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano and other campus and student leaders at 4:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Efforts are underway at the American Music Research Center to honor Don Campbell

If you are already acquainted with the American Music Research Center, then you probably know the sad news that the AMRC lost a dear friend and supporter Don Campbell to cancer on June 12. Don was a world-famous authority on the transformative power of music, a dynamic teacher and lecturer, and the author of The Mozart Effect, Healing at the Speed of Sound, and more than a dozen other books.

College of Music Cage Festival Oct. 8-12

The College of Music presents a week long celebration of John Cage on the year of his 100th birthday. John Cage was an experimental music composer as well as a distinguished and prominent figure in the development of 20th century music. The Festival includes concerts and performances featuring Cage’s music performed by many of our own College of Music faculty and special guests. It also includes a musicology colloquium featuring Tim Page, a Pulitzer Prize-winning music critic. Co-presented by Pendulum New Music, The Entrepreneurship Center for music, the American Music Research Center and the Department of Theory/Composition. All events are free and open to the public.

Holiday Festival tickets go on sale on Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. A lively program of beloved seasonal music and festive holiday decorations in Macky Auditorium inspire sold-out audiences to make the Holiday Festival a favorite annual tradition.
