CU will follow the law and provide a safe environment

Today the CU-Boulder campus announced that we are amending our housing policies in order to implement the Colorado concealed carry law. Under the changes we are implementing, housing contracts will be amended for students, faculty and staff living in residence halls, asking those who possess a Colorado conceal carry permit (CCP) to forgo bringing their weapons to campus. Please know that the safety of this campus and our community remains my highest priority, and you have my pledge that we will do all that the law allows in continuing to promote personal and community safety in all places, at all times, at the University of Colorado Boulder. Louise Vale named Vice Chancellor for Administration

Senior Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer Kelly Fox has named Louise Vale as vice chancellor for administration, starting Sept. 10. Vale will supervise a division of almost 700 employees and oversee an annual operating budget of $112 million. Areas of responsibility include human resources, facilities management, public safety, emergency management, environmental health and safety, risk management, environmental sustainability, campus logistics, printing and the campus bookstore.

Pac-12 Networks has launched

The Pac-12 Networks launched on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. mountain time, with the debut program “Pac-12 Live” taking center stage. The new Pac-12 Network will be event-centric, with plans to broadcast 850 live events across a variety of Pac-12 sports in the first year.

CU to Welcome New Students With Convocation, 'Global Jam' and Other Activities

Dozens of activities await new students at the University of Colorado Boulder starting Aug. 23, including a welcome convocation and a “Global Jam” international food and music fest.

Measles Advisory

The incidence of measles has been increasing over the past several years, both in Europe and in the United States. Health officials are particularly concerned about unvaccinated individuals being exposed to the illness during international travel and then returning to the U.S. and transmitting the disease to others. Learn about the symptoms and what you should do if you suspect you or someone you know has been exposed.

Fall Residence Hall move-in parking & traffic impacts

Campus residence hall move-in is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 21 and Thursday, Aug. 23. Several parking lots will be impacted during this event. Increased traffic on campus roadways is anticipated; faculty/staff/students are encouraged to use alternative methods of transportation to travel to campus.

5 things you should know about concealed carry permits and campus housing

• The Concealed Carry Act allows those who are at least 21 who possess a concealed weapons permit to carry a concealed handgun on campus.

• Under concealed carry, anyone with a permit may carry a concealed handgun on campus generally and into CU buildings, with the exception of Folsom Field and any other ticketed public performance venue.

• The university is amending housing contracts with all students, resident advisers and live-in faculty who are at least 21, who live in undergraduate housing on campus and in the Bear Creek apartments. This amendment stipulates that residents agree not to carry or store a weapon in the facility.

• The campus will accommodate concealed carry permit holders in a graduate student housing complex off the main campus, provided the permit-holders store their weapon in a safe within their dwelling when they are not carrying it.

• Within our total residence hall population, 96 percent of the residents are under 21, and on the campus, our CU Police Department estimates that the overall population for the campus with a concealed-carry permit would be about 0.6 percent of the total campus population.
