Regents Meeting
May 19, 2004
The Independent Investigative Commission's report contains important
recommendations that will be given very serious consideration as we address
reforming the athletic department, the football program, and our policies and
programs regarding sexual conduct and alcohol abuse. Many of the
recommendations are consistent with those I have received from other sources,
as well.
Having carefully considered a great deal of information from many sources,
including that of the Commission, I want to state clearly my support for
Chancellor Richard Byyny as the head of the Boulder Campus. Chancellor Byyny
has continued to lead the campus during this difficult period. He is respected
by many of the leaders, faculty and students of this university, and I believe
he can lead the campus through the significant changes ahead.
Together, the Chancellor and I will take all of the information we are
receiving under careful consideration and lay out a course of action for CU by
the end of the month.
