I appreciate the ongoing involvement of all students, faculty and staff in the quest for solutions to the major societal issues of racism and intolerance, including those within the campus environment.

To address these serious issues, I intend to seek input from the entire community - both on campus and within the broader community - in helping us chart an effective course of action. I am especially grateful for the work that has already been done by many students, faculty and staff. We will want to incorporate that important effort into our next steps forward.

Only by joining together as concerned members of the community can we make progress on these difficult challenges within our society and on our college campuses. I look forward to partnering with multiple groups and individuals dedicated to that cause.
