Statement Regarding GHB,
Dangerous Level of Alcohol Abuse By Pauline
Hale, CU-Boulder Spokesperson.
Nov. 10, 2005
We are relieved to learn that GHB, commonly
called the "date-rape drug," appears
not to have been a factor in the recent
hospitalizations of students following
parties in Boulder. However, we continue
to be deeply concerned about the dangerous
levels of alcohol use and abuse that night.
We will continue to diligently pursue
a change in culture and risky behavior
among our young people. We also will continue
to urge everyone to be very cautious at
parties involving alcohol consumption.
In addition, we strongly encourage individuals
to seek prompt medical attention for anyone
showing signs of alcohol poisoning.
