Twelve University of Colorado at Boulder faculty and staff members received 2004 Marinus G. Smith Recognition Awards from the CU Parents Association.
The award recognizes CU-Boulder faculty, instructors and staff who have made a significant impact on the lives of one or more CU-Boulder undergraduates. Students were asked to nominate candidates who were deserving of this recognition.
This year's recipients are Margaret Asirvatham, director and senior instructor, chemistry department; Steve Chan, chair and professor, political science department; Julie Densen, associate director, Office of Admissions; Erika Eckert, associate professor, College of Music; Jay Keister, assistant professor, College of Music; Michael Lynn, undergraduate adviser, sociology department; Pamela Marcantonio, instructor and language program coordinator for Italian, Italian/French Department; Vincent McGuire, instructor, political science department; Adam Norris, instructor, applied mathematics department; Jim Palmer, co-director, Farrand Residential Academic Program; Amy Parziale, teaching assistant, English department; and Thad Spaulding, counselor, Office of Financial Aid.
The awards were presented on April 3. The award is named for Marinus G. Smith, a Colorado pioneer who made significant financial and land donations to the university to locate in Boulder at the base of the Flatirons.
