Drainage Work Begins At CU-Boulder South

April 23, 2001

The University of Colorado at Boulder has completed the bidding process for undertaking reclamation and drainage work on the CU-Boulder South property. The estimated cost of the work to be performed is $250,000.

The project will involve moving poorly drained water through an underground pipe system into existing ponds, minor re-grading of low spots, cleaning of an irrigation lateral and re-seeding portions of the site.

The improvements will alleviate pooling that has occurred as a result of mining reclamation on the site.

The Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) has recently approved the placement of athletic and other recreational fields at CU-Boulder South so long as no permanent structures are built during the term of the current master plan, which runs through 2008.

The proposed work has been reviewed by the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology and conforms with the approved reclamation plans for the property.

CCHE has given its authorization to proceed. No jurisdictional wetlands will be disturbed during the work.

Surveying work will begin on Wednesday, April 25th.
