Tom Cech - The University
of Colorado's First Nobel Winner
Thomas Cech, a distinguished professor at the University
of Colorado and current president of the Howard Hughes
Medical Institute in Chevy Chase, Md., became the university’s
first Nobel Prize winner in 1989. He shared the
prize in chemistry with Sidney Altman of Yale University
for their independent discoveries that RNA can act
