A satellite designed and built by CU-Boulder undergraduates is slated to launch into Earth orbit Sept. 15.

Sixty Buff Bikes are ready for students and employees to check out free of charge. The bikes are single speed cruiser bikes with coaster brakes perfect for riding around campus, riding to lunch or attending an off-campus work meeting. Buff Bikes are available for rent during regular bike station hours.

This summer, five undergraduate researchers joined two CU-Boulder biologists to survey bumblebee populations in Boulder County. The team routinely visited nine sites: three in prairies at low elevation, three mid-elevation mountain meadows, and three high-elevation locations.

A group of 15 CU-Boulder environmental design students previously scant of construction experience can look back on the summer and say they built a building -- from foundation to roof, from insulation to siding, from caulk to paint.
