FALL 2012 State of the Campus Address

Oct. 16, 2012                                      Chancellor Philip DiStefano

In this year’s State of the Campus Address, CU-Boulder Chancellor Phil DiStefano urged his campus community to respond to tough economic times and funding challenges by working as a team.  To CU-Boulder employees, DiStefano said “bring in the new.”

CUT 1: To all employees – Now is the time to lead, evolve, and change how we do things. Now is the time to bring forth new ideas and new methods, new levels of organization, and new partnerships to reach our goals.

DiStefano said to help CU find new funding sources and build stronger ties to the state, he’s forming a  new community Advisory Council.

CUT 2: I am announcing the creation of an Advisory Council that will draw from the best and brightest leaders in our external community... many with no ties to CU-Boulder, and some with lifetime ties to us.  This council will help us identify new funding sources, build support for new research partnerships, make innovations in how we serve our students, and help us build and sustain our reputation

in Colorado and across the nation.

Most of all, DiStefano said, responding to tough times means balancing their individual goals as faculty, staff and students with working together on behalf of the entire university, and the people of Colorado:

CUT 3: This moment is born of necessity. But we will rise to the occasion as we always have: by listening to one another, the public and our stakeholders, and then by working together to make the tough decisions, find common ground, and take bold actions.  By coming together, the state of our campus will remain strong. The state of our lives, and our future together, will be stronger still.
