Lt. Governor Garcia observes CU’s ‘Literacy Squared’ bilingual model for Literacy Week

As part of Colorado Literacy Week, on Monday afternoon Lt. Governor Joe Garcia visited a highly successful program at Godsman Elementary School in Denver that promotes not only literacy, but biliteracy in Spanish and English. In partnership with the CU-Boulder’s BUENO Center for Multicultural Education, the school has fully integrated the Literacy Squared® model. As a result, Godsman has achieved impressive reading and writing gains in both Spanish and English that have outpaced the district and the state.

CU student lands prestigious postgraduate position with accounting board

When it comes to social responsibility, Emily Booth is getting down to business.

Booth will graduate with distinction this May with concurrent bachelor's and master’s degrees in accounting and a certificate in Socially Responsible Enterprise from the Leeds School of Business at CU-Boulder.

Stunning 'blue moon' expected to shine brightly Friday night

It’s called a "blue moon" and Friday evening at dusk if you look to the eastern horizon you’ll get to see one as it rises into the night sky. And what is a blue moon you might ask? It’s not because it’s blue. It’s a term used to describe a second full moon in one calendar month. And it’s something that doesn’t happen very often, says Matt Benjamin, education programs manager at CU-Boulder’s Fiske Planetarium.
