Tournament-bound: Q & A with Ben Mills

March 18, 2014

As CU-Boulder senior Ben Mills prepares for his third and final trip to the NCAA Tournament as a CU Buff, he took a few minutes to answer some questions about his time at CU.

Q & A

What has it been like playing in front of the CUint during your time at CU-Boulder?

It has been incredible, the most fun I have ever had. I really appreciate all the support the fans give our team. They make our experiences that much more fun.

How does it feel to be able to represent CU in the NCAA Tournament?

It's great because I know how hard it is to get to the tournament, and to make it three years in a row is something really special. I'm really looking forward to getting out there and hopefully making a long run.

What is your major and what is your favorite thing about being a CU-Boulder student?

My major is English, and my favorite thing about being a CU-Boulder student is probably just being a part of this school and community. It's a great school that is a lot of fun and has great people. I'm going to miss it.

Now that you are about done with your college career, what's next for you?

Once our season is over, I'm going to start weighing my options, including maybe going overseas. If that doesn't work out, I would like to stay in the Denver/Boulder area.

What is it like being a student athlete at CU?

It is very time consuming to say the least. You begin your day bright and early at 6 or 7 a.m., then have breakfast, classes, practice and workouts. We also have to travel for some of our games. So you don't have a lot of free time, but I have loved every second of it. It gives you a good work ethic and teaches you about time management. It's tough, but it is a lot of fun at the same time.

What are you most proud of about your time here at CU?

I would say being a part of a winning program that is getting better every year.

Mills, who grew up in Wisconsin, was the winner of the 2013 CU Most-Improved Student Athlete Award. He also enjoys writing fiction short stories and playing video games.
