- Colorado students young and old benefit from education outreach programs including Science Discovery, the Integrated Teaching and Learning Program’s K-12 Engineering Initiative, Simply the Best, Shakespeare Summer Partnerships, the Philosophy Outreach Program of Colorado and others.
- CU-Boulder faculty present public education programs on campus geared to children and young adults, including CU Wizards, Fiske Planetarium “star shows,” Saturday Physics Series and CU Museum programs.
- The Office of Community Relations brings the unique knowledge and skills of a broad range of Boulder campus disciplines to the state through a vast array of outreach programs.
- The CU4K12 Web site, an outreach and in-service program guide for Colorado’s K-12 teachers, features more than 112 programs and 68 Internet resources available through CU-Boulder. Use of the site has increased every year since its inception: see www.colorado.edu/cu4k12/.
- Campus tours for middle school groups are available throughout the year. During the hour-long tours, students follow the scale model planet walk, visit the recreation center, walk through Norlin Quadrangle and see historic campus buildings. Many student groups assist with campus outreach programs specifically geared to their own age group.
- CU in the Community is a partnership of the Boulder campus and Colorado communities that integrates the university’s education, research and service mission with the goals and needs of communities throughout the state. Examples include the Mini Med School, a partnership with the Health Sciences Center, the Winter Warmth Drive, which collects coats for people in need, and Read Across America Day.
- The CU-Boulder Speaker’s Bureau offers graduate and faculty speakers who have expertise on a wide range of topics, placing speakers with civic groups; community organizations; elementary, middle and high schools; and professional associations.
- The CUWizards series is celebrating its 30th season in 2006-07. The popular outreach series focuses on basic scientific principles to educate and entertain students of all ages.
