- The $46.3 million state-of-the-art Wolf Law Building opened in fall 2006. The 183,000-square-foot building includes a 42,047-square-foot library, 18 classrooms ranging in size from 20 to 100 seats, a 250-seat courtroom and a high-tech teaching courtroom. A new student fee paid for part of the building’s construction.
- The new $31 million ATLAS Center opened in fall 2006. The building features a two-story “black box” performance studio with video and audio-control rooms, dressing rooms and a production studio, four computer classrooms, a 150-student auditorium, technology-enhanced classrooms and a 75-student film screening room for instruction and campus and community events. A new student fee funded the building.
- The Leeds School of Business broke ground in spring 2006 on a $38 million renovation and expansion project on the business building, which will be named in honor of the Koelbel family. The expansion will add 65,000 square feet to the existing 100,000-square-foot building, including new MBA and undergrauate classrooms, suites and an “information commons” attached to the renovated business library, which will include 24 student team rooms, a 24-hour café and state-of-the-art technology. A new student fee is paying for part of the project, expected to be completed in fall 2007.
- CU’s Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics broke ground in May 2004 on a $13 million expansion to its primary research building. The existing 60,000-square-foot building gained another 45,000 square feet for laboratories, offices and conference rooms when the addition was completed in December 2005.
- In summer 2006, the campus undertook a student-funded $5.7 million project to improve existing campus intramural athletic fields and install new basketball/multiuse courts. Farrand Field, a centrally located campus green space, will receive major renovations including the addition of a new stage for outdoor concerts and other events.
- In summer 2007, construction will begin on a new Visual Arts Complex that will synthesize art, history and high technology. Scheduled to open in 2009, the 148,000-square-foot complex will be the new home of the CU Art Museum and the art and art history department.
