In this sequel to the Barber of Seville, Figaro struggles with his new employer Count Almaviva over the loyalty of the beautiful Susanna, to the dismay of Rosina, the Countess. CU Opera's traditionally staged production of Mozart's masterpiece will leave you riveted by this tale of love, betrayal and forgiveness. Sung in Italian with surtitles.
The CU Opera program was designated a "Program of Excellence" by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education. The award was based on the quality of the voice faculty and students, placement of former students in the professional world, and outside support of the program. Undergraduate and graduate students at the College present several major productions each year. These include fully staged and costumed operas, operettas, and musicals, as well as the acclaimed CU Opera in the Summer. Recent offerings have included Così fan tutte , Semele, Don Giovanni, The Music Man, Die Fledermaus, and Falstaff. Upcoming productions will include The Rape of Lucretia. Other performance opportunities for students are Opera Scenes each semester.
