Graduate programs in music education (MME and PhD) are designed to meet the ongoing professional needs of music teachers in the field and to prepare individuals for new careers in elementary/secondary schools or higher education. Degree requirements are structured to emphasize the development of both practical skills and theoretical knowledge related to contemporary music education. The music education faculty draws upon extensive experience as public school teachers, clinicians, conductors, performers, researchers, and professional leaders in providing graduate students with an educational experience that is both rigorous and relevant.
