Peter Miksza

Peter Miksza is an Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. Miksza received a Bachelor of Music degree from The College of New Jersey, and Master of Music Education and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Indiana University, Bloomington. His classroom duties at the University of Colorado include teaching Introduction to Music Education and Instrumental Methods at the undergraduate level as well as teaching Research in Music Education and Psychology of Music Learning at the graduate level. Dr. Miksza is also involved in mentoring and guiding undergraduate students as they complete their field experience requirements and is the current faculty advisor for the CMENC chapter at CU.

Prior to his appointment as faculty member at the University of Colorado, Dr. Miksza served as Band Director at Pequannock Valley Middle School and Assistant Marching Band Director at Pequannock Township High School in New Jersey. He has also served as an Associate Instructor at Indiana University, working with undergraduate music education students and coordinating the Indiana University Young Winds program for middle school band students. Dr. Miksza’s primary research interests lie in the investigation of music practicing and music teacher training. He has presented papers at regional and national research conferences and has been published in several prominent peer-reviewed journals.
