Pianist Doris Pridonoff Lehnert made her debut with orchestra at age nine, and many triumphs have followed. She has won the UCLA Young Artist Competition, the Pasadena (CA) Symphony Orchestra Competition, the Music Teachers National Association Competition, the Aspen Concerto Competition and the Los Angeles Debut Award. Professor Lehnert has appeared with many orchestras throughout the United States. She performs with her husband, violinist Oswald Lehnert, as part of the Lehnert Duo, and in a trio with their son Oswald Jr. She and her husband have performed throughout the United States, Europe, South America and the Far East.
She studied on scholarship at the University of Southern California and at the Juilliard School of Music. Her teachers included such artists as Richard Buhlig, Lillian Steuber and the renowned Rosina Lhevinne.
Doris Lehnert is currently Professor of Music in piano at the University of Colorado at Boulder, having taught previously at the Hartford Conservatory of Music and the University of Connecticut. She is considered one of the foremost teachers in the U.S. and received a citation for teaching excellence from former Colorado Governor Richard Lamm. In 1990 she was one of four faculty members at the University of Colorado to be awarded the SOAR Award for teaching excellence. Her students have won numerous national, state and local competitions. In addition to teaching, she enjoys a concert career that spans the international music scene.
