Oliver Ellsworth teaches music history and literature with specialties in medieval music and opera at CU-Boulder. In addition, he is a harpsichordist and has served as co-director of the Collegium Musicum. He has edited two books, The Berkeley Manuscript (1984) and Johannes Ciconia: Nova musica and De proportionibus that have been published by the University of Nebraska Press. He has published a number of articles and reviews on medieval music theory.

Ellsworth received a Bachelor of Arts (1961), a Master of Arts (1963), and Doctor of Philosophy (1969) degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a member of the American Musicological Society, Phi Beta Kappa honorary, and Pi Kappa Lambda music honorary.
