Dana Biggs

Dana Biggs is Instructor and Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Colorado – Boulder.  His teaching responsibilities include assisting with the Golden Buffalo Marching Band, directing the Basketball Pep Band, and serving joint duties in the departments of instrumental conducting and music education.

Mr. Biggs comes to Colorado from the University of Kentucky where he served as the Acting Associate Director of Bands in charge of directing the Wildcat Marching Band, the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Pep Bands, and conducting the Symphonic Band.  At this same time he also was completing coursework for his DMA in instrumental conducting for which he is A.B.D.  He received his Masters of Music degree in instrumental conducting from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky and his Bachelors of Music Education degree from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.

From 1998-2005, Mr. Biggs was Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky.  His duties included directing the Marching Patriots and the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Pep Bands, conducting the Wind Ensemble, and teaching music history, instrumental conducting, and applied trombone, tuba and euphonium. Mr. Biggs also has several years of experience in the public schools of Kentucky, at Magoffin County High School in Salyersville, Kentucky, and Georgia, at Riverdale High School in Atlanta, Georgia.

Mr. Biggs is an active member of the College Band Director’s National Association, National Band Association, Music Educators National Conference, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Phi Mu Alpha.  He is a past member of the Kentucky College Band Director’s Association for which he served as secretary for the organization and chairman of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Band.  He also served in the Kentucky Music Educators Association as District 10 Festival Commissioner and was twice named the District 10 College Teacher of the Year.  Mr. Biggs remains active as a clinician, adjudicator, drill designer and guest conductor throughout the United States.
