Chad Hamill has been a performer and independent recording artist for the past 20 years, self-producing a number of critically acclaimed CD's that have been heard on radio stations throughout the world. His latest release "Sympatiko," a collaboration with Brazilian guitarist Joao Junquiera, recently debuted at #22 on the NAR top 100 national radio chart.

Mike Sokol, guest speaker
Mr. Sokol is a critically acclaimed audio engineer, author and surround sound authority. Topics for this workshop include; creative multichannel mixing methods, multichannel CODECs and encoding techniques, speaker positioning tips, calibration techniques and much more. Mr. Sokol will demonstrate various techniques on a full surround system. This session is a presentation in cooperation with Fits & Starts Productions, LLC.

An informal discussion with Artist Series guest Simon Trpceski. This 24-year-old Macedonian pianist has created a sensation on the stages of Europe and is rapidly earning critical acclaim in the United States. Discussion topics will include preparing for competitions, finding an agent, making recordings and more.

The return of Ellen Highstein for two days of workshops. Ms. Highstein is the author of Making Music in Looking Glass Land and the Music Director at Tanglewood since November 1997. Her clinic in the spring of 2000 titled “Survival Skills for the Classical Musician” was a well received presentation that remains a timely topic.

The final presentation in the four part series on acquiring a university position - including mock interviews and one-on-one consultation of the applicant's packet with a panel of professors.

DeVotchka
A wholly unique mélange of Middle Eastern, Eastern European, and American Punk and Folk music, DeVotchKa truly has no musical peers. And while the band’s genre descriptors and untraditional musical line up (upright bass, violin, tuba, accordion, drums, harmonica, guitar) may appear on paper to be wildly inaccessible-- nothing could be farther from the truth. DeVotchKa was recently named "The Best Underground Band in Colorado" by a panel of industry insiders for the Denver Post. The group (including former CU student Tom Hagerman will be discussing various aspects of their careers within this unique and successful ensemble.
