CU Boulder choirs are open to all students, regardless of their major. An audition is required for all who wish to enroll in a CU Boulder choir.
There are four parts to the choir audition:
- A brief hello and interview to get to know you (this is the time to mention any schedule conflicts).
- Sing a solo of your choice (e.g., a folk song, art song, aria or simply one verse of “Amazing Grace”). A pianist will be provided, but please bring your own music ... unless you wish to sing unaccompanied.
- Vocalises (simple vocal exercises that we will lead you through to determine your range and voice part for choir).
- Sight-reading (we will provide one or two exercises to determine your level of experience with music literacy).
