BANDS @ CU
The WIND SYMPHONY is a fifty-five member ensemble comprised of the most outstanding wind, brass and percussion performers in the university. The ensemble utilizes a flexibile instrumentaiton and performs repertoire that ranges from wind chamber music to full band.
The SYMPHONIC BAND, an ensemble of approximately seventy musicians, is selected by audition from the finest performers on campus. Although most members are music majors, students studying in other fields often qualify for this ensemble.
The CAMPUS BAND (fall semester) & CONCERT BAND (spring semester), a sixty-five piece ensemble, is comprised of music majors as well as talented students from many other disciplines across the CU campus. Exploring traditional and contemporary works for band, the ensemble is known for its high level performance of quality literature. Auditions are not required for members of this ensemble, and instruments are available if needed.
Membership in the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band is determined by auditions that take place the week before classes begin. Sign-up sheets will be available on the bulletin board outside E-172 beginning mid-August. Each person should have a prepared solo/etude as well as the excerpts posted on this website. Auditioness may also be asked to sight-read. All auditions will take place in Grusin Music Hall. Results will be posted on the bulletin board shortly after the auditions have been completed. Wind Auditions for orchestra will take place at the same time. The audition dates for each instrument vary, however the dates and times are listed within the link for the excerpts.
Excerpts will be posted here in August.
If you have UNAVOIDABLE conflicts for the audition, it may be possible to arrange an alternate audition time.
