The Wind Symphony is composed of the most outstanding wind and percussion students in the College of Music. The group is dedicated to the performance of the finest wind repertoire, regardless of the period or size of ensemble. Founded in 1978, this group of musicians has toured Japan, England, and California and has been heard on radio broadcasts throughout the United States and Europe. These performances, as well as the performances on campus and throughout Colorado, have brought this group international acclaim.

The Symphonic Band, an organization of approximately 70 musicians, is selected by audition from the finest performers on campus. Although most members are music majors, students studying in other fields often qualify for this ensemble. Since its formation over 50 years ago, the Symphonic Band has performed at major national conventions, including the Music Educators National Conference and the College Band Directors National Association. Concerts presented both in Colorado and out of state have won the acclaim of band directors and composers for the interpretive performance of outstanding works for the symphonic band medium.

The Concert Band, a sixty-five piece ensemble, is composed of music majors as well as talented students from many other disciplines. Exploring traditional and contemporary works for band, the ensemble is known for its consistently high level of performance. Musicians in the Concert Band are provided with the opportunity to share in the excitement of the creative process as they broaden their musical experiences. The band maintains an active schedule and enjoys a fine reputation as a group committed to the highest musical standards.

The Campus Band offers non-music majors an avenue to continue making music throughout their college careers. The enthusiasm of this band has enabled its members to achieve musical results with challenging literature while taking a brief break from the routine and pressures of their major disciplines. Rehearsing just one night per week, the Campus Band has the goal of creating maximum enjoyment with limited performance demands. Auditions are not required for the members of this group, and instruments are available if needed.

The "Golden Buffalo" Marching Band is recognized as one of the premier college marching bands in the United States. Comprised of approximately 200 student musicians from throughout the country, the band remains an integral and exciting part of the tradition and spirit at the University of Colorado. The band utilizes an extremely versatile marching style and is consistently performs the latest in contemporary show design. The ensemble has appeared on national television many times and has performed in numerous NFL football games. The "Golden Buffalo" Marching Band has appeared at the Insight.com Bowl, Alamo Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Aloha Bowl, Holiday Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Blockbuster Bowl, and Orange Bowl. While there is no audition requirement for the Marching Band wind sections, the drumline, colorguard and "Goldrush" danceline are selected by audition only.

The Buff Basketball Band is an organization of 55 select musicians that performs for CU Men and Women's Basketball games. This popular and enthusiastic group has also traveled with the teams to Big Twelve and NCAA tournaments.
