Piano Program
The internationally recognized piano faculty is uniquely equipped to provide an education that balances a strong program in solo performance with in-depth experiences in pedagogy, accompanying, chamber music, literature, jazz performance, and improvisation. Undergraduate pianists may choose to pursue BA, BM, or BME degrees. MM and DMA degree programs include extensive and individually considered requirements in repertoire, recitals, and research work.

Collaborative Piano Program
The new graduate program in collaborative piano offers MM and DMA performance degrees. Students (selected by live audition only) receive specialized training in instrumental accompanying, chamber music, art song and opera with appropriate emphasis in each student’s area of interest. The entire faculty of the College is an outstanding resource for this program, including the acclaimed Takács Quartet, professional opera staff, and the Pendulum Series featuring new music. Piano Pedagogy Program
The Keyboard Department offers comprehensive training in piano pedagogy including undergraduate and graduate courses and supervised practicum student teaching. The use and study of instructional technology is one of the focuses of the program. In addition, the College offers the MM degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. The goal of the program is to prepare competent pianists and skillful piano teachers who can teach in individual and group settings. The MM program offers a variety of practical teaching opportunities, including supervised group and individual teaching of adults, and pre-college practicum teaching.  

Organ and Harpsichord Programs
The College of Music offers BM, MM, and DMA degrees in organ, and the MM in harpsichord, as well as the newly created MM in early keyboard, which blends musicology with study of either instrument. Organ performance majors concentrate on the study of concert literature, while students of church music specialize in literature appropriate to that area. Harpsichord and organ study are also available as a minor or elective.

Jazz Piano Program
The College of Music’s internationally recognized jazz program offers the BM in jazz piano, the BA with a jazz emphasis, the jazz certificate, and the MM in jazz performance and pedagogy, all of which afford talented jazz piano students the opportunity for intensive jazz study with leading professional musicians.
