Ben Markley (DMA '10) was named recipient of the 2008 ASCAP Foundation Young Jazz Composer Award.

Damani Phillips
(DMA '08) has accepted the position as Jazz Director at Grinnell College, IA. He will begin his teaching duties in August of 2008.

Kevin Woods' (MM '07) composition "Lament for Madeline" from his latest CD, Ballad of the West, is featured in the October 2007 edition of Jazziz Magazine and on Jazziz on Disc.

Aaron Miller (MM '07) has accepted the position as Professor of Bass at BYU-Idaho. He will begin his teaching duties in January of 2008.

FACULTY NEWS

Pat Bianchi was rated as one of the nation's top 10 jazz organists in DownBeat Magazine Annual Reader's Poll.

Brad Goode's latest cd, "NATURE BOY" (Delmark 567) was released on November 13th. The CD features Jeff Jenkins, piano; Johannes Weidenmueller, bass; Todd Reid, drums. This is Brad's 10th commercially released leader date, and the 35th on which he appears as a soloist.

The CU Jazz Program is pleased to welcome Art Lande as Artist in Residence. Art will be teaching, conducting workshops and mentoring students throughout the year. We are thrilled to have this wonderful teacher and musician join our program!

Brad Goode has been invited to perform as principal trumpet with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (New Orleans) for several of their performances this season. In addition to the jazz work for which he has always been known, he is increasingly being requested as a first trumpeter for many groups in a variety of musical styles. In the local area, Brad can frequently be heard playing lead trumpet with; The 9th & Lincoln Orchestra, The What's Cookin' Big Band, Chie Imaizumi Orchestra, La Candela, Dressed In Black and others.
