The award-winning CU Jazz Studies Program welcomes participation from students throughout the Boulder campus, regardless of major. All jazz ensembles are placed through auditions held at the beginning of each semester, including two big bands and six jazz combos. Each year, prominent jazz artists are invited to campus to perform and conduct clinics. Recent guests include Arturo Sandoval, Michael Brecker, Wynton Marsalis, Joe Lovano, Bobby Shew, Poncho Sanchez, Eliane Elias, and many others.

2008 DownBeat Magazine Student Music Award:
Congratulations to Josh Quinlan (DMA Jazz Studies) who was recognized this year by DownBeat magazine in their annual Student Music Awards. Josh won Outstanding Performance in the Jazz Soloist category!
