Information for Undergraduate Music Majors Welcome! Please refer to the Undergraduate Student Handbook below for your advising questions including information about degrees, registration, and other procedures. Advising
- BM Students - your applied instructor is your advisor
- BME Students - you are assigned an advisor from the music education faculty. Check the Music Education bulletin boards outside room E-172 and Macky 213 to find out who your advisor is.
- BA Students - Victoria Ibarra in the Undergraduate Studies Office is your advisor.
- All music students must meet with their advisors before registering for courses each semester. Students must turn in a signed Advisor Approval Form to the Undergraduate Studies Office before they will be able to register.

Convocation
- All music majors must complete six semesters of Convocation (CONV 1990), except for transfer students, who must complete four semesters.
- Incoming freshmen and transfer students will register for CONV 1990-002, known as "Dean's Convo".
- All other students must attend seven performances listed on the Convocation list.

Classes
- Non-music majors may take any courses with the prefix "MUEL". This stands for "Music Electives". Possible courses include:
- MUEL 1115 - Piano Class 1
- MUEL 1184 - Voice Class 1
- MUEL 1832 - Appreciation of Music
- MUEL 2772 - World Musics
- MUEL 2852 - History of Rock
- MUEL 3642 - History of Jazz
- MUEL 3822 - Words and Music

Ensembles
- Non-music majors may participate in most music ensembles, including bands, orchestras, choirs, jazz, and world music ensembles.
- Each ensemble may be taken for 1 credit hour per semester. The ensembles are listed in the course catalog with a prefix of "EMUS".

Private Lessons
- Non-music majors may receive credit for taking private lessons each semester. These lessons are not offered through the College of Music. They are offered through the Division of Continuing Education's Applied Music Program.
