Summer Session 2006

Summer courses and workshops at the College of Music fill a wide range of interests and needs. Courses offered in the College of Music summer session may be used to: fulfill degree requirements by music majors, serve as core or elective courses by non-majors, satisfy certification requirements of educators, or enrich generally the lives of community members.

2006 Session Dates
Maymester--May 15 to June 2
Session A--June 5 to July 7
Session B--July 11 to August 11

Elective music (EMUS) courses may satisfy humanities and elective requirements for non-music majors and are open to all students. Individuals not regularly enrolled at the University of Colorado may enroll in these and
many other courses as non-degree students.

Intensive music (IMUS) classes are special courses offered over a short time period (usually two to five days) for one credit-hour. They are designed both for teacher certification and as elective courses for undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree students.

Music majors, both graduate and undergraduate, will find courses (MUSC) in
music theory and music education that may be used to satisfy requirements of their degree programs in the regular summer school listings. Many of these courses are also open to non-degree students.

Private instruction for credit or non-credit on any instrument or voice may be scheduled with regular College of Music performance faculty (if available) through CU's Division of Continuing Education. Application forms will be available in the College of Music office. Limited to two credit-hours.

Summer workshops in a variety of disciplines are being held in College of Music facilities including the Alexander Technique Symposium, a band conductors' workshop, the Boulder Flute School, and a clinic for middle-school band directors. Several of these workshops will offer optional university credit.

Music educators will find a "user friendly" environment on the CU campus. In order to accommodate the public school schedules, courses of interest to music educators are being held between June 13 and July 8, 2005.
