Elective music (MUEL) courses may satisfy humanities and elective requirements for non-music majors and are open to all students. Individuals not regularly enrolled at the University of Colorado may enroll in these and many other courses as non-degree students.

Intensive music (IMUS) classes are special courses offered over a short time period (usually two to five days) for one credit-hour. They are designed both for teacher certification and as elective courses for undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree students.

Music majors, both graduate and undergraduate, will find courses (MUSC) in music theory and music education that may be used to satisfy requirements of their degree programs in the regular summer school listings. Many of these courses are also open to non-degree students.
