Students are eligible for consideration for the various scholarships listed below, based on the results of the audition, interview, or academic records, depending on the program selected. New undergraduate students are automatically considered for these scholarships at the time of their audition for admission to the College of Music. No special scholarship application is required. Currently enrolled students apply and audition for scholarships and special awards. For need-based awards, students are urged to contact the CU Office of Financial Aid.
Tuition Scholarships
The College of Music now offers scholarships up to the amount of resident and nonresident tuition, renewable for up to four years. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time each semester. These scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of the audition; the record of prior academic achievement is also analyzed to ensure that students are prepared for the university program for which they have applied. Students can compete for scholarships provided by a number of the Colleges generous donors. These awards, over and above the tuition scholarships, are open to competition on a yearly basis.
Endowed Scholarships
Many generous donors have provided funds to assist undergraduate and graduate students in their music study. Exceptional students will be eligible for awards over and above the tuition scholarships. Depending upon the size of the endowment, these awards range from $200 to $2,000 per academic year. There are approximately 25 of these scholarships.
Service Awards
Awards are available to students who serve in assigned responsibilities at the College of Music. Responsibilities are determined by the Dean according to a students talent, scholastic requirements, and abilities. Service awards can be received in addition to scholarships.
