Thanks for your interest in applying to the CU College of Music. There are multiple steps in the application process which you must complete. The following text is a resource for you to follow as you proceed through the application process. You may want to print out this page and check off the steps as you complete them. STEP 1 - Read Admissions Information
If you have not aready done so, visit the music undergraduate information page. Be sure to read all of the important information there including the Undergraduate application FAQ.

STEP 2 -Visit us!
Prospective students and parents are invited to visit campus and the College of Music.

STEP 3 -Submit application to the University of Colorado
You may either submit your application to CU online or by mail. All instructions and forms for CU applications can be found at the CU Admissions site. Information is included for incoming freshman, transfer students, international students, and others. Complete all of the necessary steps on that site.

STEP 4 - Complete the College of Music audition application
Review audition information then print, complete, and return the audition application form. Visit the audition requirements and repertoire page to download the form and find specific information about auditioning for each instrument and program.

STEP 5 - Submit essay to the College of Music
In an original essay, tell us why you would like to be a music major and what your future goals are as a musician. Please describe your most powerful musical experience as well. If you wish, comment on your musical background or any other things you'd like us to know about. This essay should be double-spaced and typed if possible. It should be no longer than one page. Send it with your application if possible or bring it to your audition. You may substitute a copy of the essay written for the university application for this requirement if you wish.

STEP 6 - Submit one reference to the College of Music
Using the undergraduate recommendation form, submit at least one music teacher/musician recommendation. Additional instructions are included with the form.

STEP 7- Audition at the College of Music
Visit the audition information page for information on audition logistics and requirements.
