Prospective undergraduate students interested in majoring in music should consider visiting the College of Music. It is recommended that students attend CU Music Day, or consider scheduling a visit to be a student for a day. Students can also consider contacting facuty in their respective department to possibly schedule a meeting, sample lesson, or an opportunity to sit in on a lesson during their visit.
Note: The College of Music does not offer a minor in music. Find information for non-majors.
The College of Music invites you to visit us during CU Music Day. Events will include Q&A sessions, a sample lecture, open classes and rehearsals, campus and music building tours, and an open studio hour where students can meet and speak with faculty members. CU Music Day is free and open to all high school and middle school students, but you need to register to attend. Register for CU Music Day.
Interested in visiting the College of Music, shadowing a current student, sitting in on classes, rehearsals and lessons? Come visit and be a "Music Buff on Campus!"
College of Music Student Ambassadors are available for you to shadow Monday-Thursday with the exception of University holidays. Unfortunately, Fridays are not included in our Student for a Day program as many classes do not meet on Fridays.
Studio performance classes occur once a week. If you are able, you may want to schedule your visit on the day of your respective area's performance class (Monday - Strings & Jazz; Tuesday - Brass & Percussion; Wednesday - Voice, Composition & Keyboard; Thursday - Woodwinds)
