CU-Boulder announces two finalists for dean of College of Music

University of Colorado Boulder Provost Russell L. Moore today announced two finalists for the position of dean of the College of Music.

The finalists for the position are Mary Ellen Poole, former dean of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Robert Shay, director of the School of Music at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Pope Francis names CU-Boulder College of Music graduate bishop of Pueblo, Colo.

Pope Francis named Monsignor Stephen J. Berg, a 1973 graduate of the College of Music, bishop of the Catholic Diocese on Wednesday, Jan. 15 by Pope Francis.

The 62-year-old bishop-elect, who graduated with a degree in piano performance, will be ordained and installed in a Feb. 27 ceremony.

“Ian Bousfield is simply one of the most remarkable trombonists in the world,” says William J. Stanley, associate professor of trombone and chair of the brass/percussion department at CU-Boulder. “We are honored to have him.”

CU Regent Ludwig pens poem in appreciation of Holiday Festival

Moved by a performance of the 2013 Holiday Festival, one of the College of Music's and CU Presents' most popular events year after year, University of Colorado Regent Stephen Ludwig authored a poem, "Cosmic Gift," that distills some of the emotions stirred by the performance.

In a letter to Dr. James Austin, interim dean at the CU-Boulder College of Music, Ludwig wrote:
