October 10, 2010
The College of Music and CU Foundation welcome Lissy Garrison who was appointed Senior Development Director on October 6, 2010.
Lissy’s career spans 25 years in the corporate and nonprofit sectors. Prior to joining the Foundation, Lissy led Ballet Nouveau Colorado for 15 years – first as President of the Board of Directors, and then as its founding Executive Director – guiding the nonprofit organization from start-up to national acclaim. She served as Vice President of Marketing for Citibank California for six years, developing and launching strategic products and programs to build a 4-state western region and managing the conversion to interstate banking. Early in her career, she worked with a major design agency providing strategic design services for international airlines, and helped introduce the Personal Computer for IBM.
A recognized leader in Metro Denver’s nonprofit community, Lissy regularly advises other groups and has served on many task forces aimed at strengthening the local nonprofit sector. An experienced strategic planner, she has facilitated workshops for the University of Colorado, the Broomfield Chamber of Commerce, the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, and the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, among many others. She currently sits on the board of the National Kidney Foundation serving Colorado, Montana and Wyoming, where she chairs the Nominating Committee.
Lissy’s connection to the CU College of Music began early in her youth while growing up in Boulder, when she trained and performed extensively at CU and in the Boulder community as an award-winning young pianist and violinist. She holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Business Administration from The Colorado College.
The Senior Director of Development works in close partnership with the Dean of the College of Music at CU-Boulder to develop and implement long-term fundraising strategy. The Director assists in campus-level strategy development, goal setting and day-to-day management, as well as personally manages relationships with the college’s top donors and prospects.
