amrcThe American Music Research Center’s annual advisory board retreat Saturday, July 17 was an opportunity for AMRC staff and board members to discuss future plans and recap the year’s events. This past year has been an eventful one at the AMRC, including the following highlights:

  • Assessed Burke [Big Band Radio Programs] Collection in Florida
  • Acquired Taplin [Ellington Recordings] Collection with financial support for preservation
  • Made distinguished career awards to Ezra Sims and Austin Lovelace, Society for American Music [SAM] Annual mtg in Denver
  • Helped City of Boulder celebrate in music its 150th Birthday
  • Received sculpture of CU composer Charles Eakin
  • Greeted new archivist Eric Harbeson
  • Produced vols. 17-18 of AMRC Journal
  • Assisted with George Cumb at 80 receptions and pre-concert lectures
  • Hosted Prof. Carol Oja, of Harvard University, as 3rd Annual Fink Lecturer, on Leonard Bernstein
  • Received commitment from chancellor for Rothgerber/Fleming building as future home of AMRC
  • Collaborated with Boulder History Museum on 4th Annual Great American Sing-Along
  • Prepared for 6th Triennial Susan Porter Symposium, Classic Broadway & Those Who Built It
