Micro Motion

Company Overview

One of the world's leading developer and manufacturer's of Coriolis mass flowmeters, Micro Motion is headquartered in Boulder, CO. Providing a true mass flowrate output, this device is capable of measuring the flowrates of liquids (e.g. chocolate, crude oil, etc ) as well as gases without any modifications. The flowmeters can be as accurate as 0.1% and measure flows in pipelines of diameters from less than 1/4" to 6" or greater.

Project Objective

Quantify a Coriolis flowmeters response to a "step" change in flowrate. Both theoretical and actual step responses need to be determined. A means of creating a surge in pressure must be developed (e.g. high speed valve, special pump, etc.) and include a pressure transducer to quantify the (step) change in fluid pressure. The system must be built, debugged, and tested on flowmeters ranging in size from 1/4" to 1/2".
