Industry Advisory Council Mission

To support the educational mission of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and foster mutually beneficial collaborations between the Department and Industry.

Objectives

• Bring an industry component to the educational experience of our mechanical engineering students.
  • Projects from industry for senior projects and independent study (grad and undergrad) classes
  • Seminars from industry representatives
  • Classroom guest lecturers from industry
  • Industry site visits for students
  • Internship programs for students (grad and undergrad) — summer and during the term
  • Industry adjunct faculty
• Obtain advice from industry about the general applicability of the curriculum, the sufficiency of specific courses, strategic directions, department processes, etc.
• Industry collaboration with the department in research areas of mutual interest.
• Industry donation of equipment and/or funds for modern equipment for departmental laboratories.
• Industry to supply meaningful intern and full time positions for mechanical engineering students.
• Industry to supply grants and fellowships where applicable.
• Industry to assist in faculty and student recruitment.
