Research Interests


 

  • Nano heat transfer (Nanofluid for thermal transport, new thermal composite with extreme high/low thermal conductivity based on CNTs or metal nano wire/wall, heat transfer on nanofabricated surfaces, etc.);
  • ?/span>Two-phase heat transfer and flow (performance, the CHF, the flow characteristics, development of design tools for optimal design, etc.);
  • Thermal management of ultrahigh heat flux systems (electronics and optoelectronics at sub-chip, chip and system levels, high power weapon system, fission/fusion reactor, power/propulsion system, high freqency switch, radar, TR sets, vehicle, etc.);
  • The thermal phenomena in Biological systems and thermal therapies;
  • Numerical simulation of two-phase heat transfer process (FEM and MD) and software development;
  • Development of advanced heat pipe technology (high performance, and high heat flux);
  • Renewable engergy (geothermal power plant, and solar thermal energy collector).

  2. Capillary condensation on mirco/nano scale multi-functional surface

Research focused on development of high performance heat sink based on Screen-Fin Technology including fundamental studies of flow characteristics through screen-fin and thermal performance of screen-fin with complicated geometric configurations

Main Responsibilities:

  • Heat pipe and LHP design and experimentation
  • Thermal-control-system design and test for FY-1C (launched in May, 1999) and FY-1D (launched in May, 2002), the first generation Polar Orbiting Meteorological Satellites of China
  • Satellite level testing
