Jeremy Calder of the Linguistics Department, Christina Lacerenza of Leeds School of Business and Violet Mwaffo of the Department of Mechanical Engineering have been selected as recipients of the 2017 Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellowship from over one hundred applicants.
A graduate of Stanford University, Dr. Jeremy Calder will examine how non-normative gender performances arise in interactions between queer performance artists using a variationist sociolinguistic approach under the mentorship of Dr. Kira Hall.
Dr. Christina Lacerenza received her degree from Rice University, and will join the Management and Entrepreneurship program of Leeds School of Business under the mentorship of Dr. David Hekman. Dr. Lacerenza will explore effective leadership methods, particularly with respect to speech patterns, as a function of gender.
Dr. Violet Mwaffo, graduate of New York University, will join the Department of Mechanical Engineering under the mentorship of Dr. Sean Humbert, where he will use data-driven stochastic modeling and network-based tools to study zebrafish swimming behavior, fluid dynamics and fish-robot interactions.
Dr. Julian Resasco was awarded the Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2016, and will be joining the program in 2017 after completing his National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship. Dr. Resasco received his PhD from the University of Florida, and his appointment will be based in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EBIO) under the mentorship of Dr. Kendi Davies. Dr. Resasco will conduct research on habitat fragmentation, connectivity, and ecological networks.
Each year, the University of Colorado Boulder awards the Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellowship to postdoctoral scholars whose creative work/research, teaching and/or service contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education in all academic fields. The program is open to all academic fields and is particularly interested in scholars who can lend perspective to their scholarship through the lens of their own non-traditional background or understanding of the experiences of historically underrepresented groups.
Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded for one year of protected scholarship in preparation for a tenure-track faculty application. CU Boulder views these fellowships as providing an opportunity to recruit potential new faculty to the university who will contribute to the University’s culture of inclusive excellence.
