2017 Summer Design Engineering Internship

Goal of the Internship
Design engineering support – CAD, hand and computer analysis, prototype development, and testing on projects occurring at Boa.  The intern will support a project team and will be directed by the Project Engineer and staff Design Engineers.

  • Create concept CAD parts and assemblies in Solidworks
  • Perform basic statics hand calculations
  • Perform structured FEA analysis
  • Create engineering drawings in Solidworks
  • Manage creation of prototype components
  • Test prototype components in lab and field test conditions

Personal project – self directed effort with support from DE staff pursuing design and development project of intern’s choice.  This is an opportunity for theintern to explore their interests within the confines of Boa to help develop their personal skills, experience, and portfolio.

Required Skills

  • Task Ownership
  • Fundamental engineering knowledge: statics, materials, CAD, manufacturing
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Hands-on Worker
  • Mechanical design experience (preferred)

Internship Duration
The summer internship program will run May through September of 2017 with flexible start and end dates dependent on candidate’s school and schedule.
