Clare Small Arts and Sciences Building (1928)

Originally called the Women's Gymnasium, this building was the dream of Clare Hebard Small (1898–1972), who created the Department of Physical Education for Women in 1918 and remained its director until 1957. The building contained a swimming pool, two large gyms, classrooms, and offices. It is unique among Klauder buildings in that its facade is not symmetrical.

Today, the building houses the Department of Kinesiology. The CU Museum Herbarium, located in the basement, houses nearly 500,000 plant specimens collected from mountain and high desert habitats worldwide.
